Information involved in a visit

This is a static editorial website. We do not offer visitor accounts, checkout, comment submission, contact forms or newsletter sign-ups. We do not use advertising trackers or audience analytics on the site. Search runs in your browser and does not submit your search terms to an analytics service.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical request information to deliver and protect the website. This can include an IP address, request time, requested address, browser information and security signals. Infrastructure records are different from an advertising profile. Cloudflare's processing and retention depend on its services and settings; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email us

An email may include your address, name, message, attachments and information added by your email service. Email providers process delivery and mailbox data under their own arrangements. Please share only what is needed for your enquiry and avoid sending sensitive information. We use correspondence to consider and respond to the enquiry, investigate a correction or address a rights request. We do not add correspondents to a marketing list.

Purpose, retention and sharing

Where data protection law applies, legitimate interests in delivering a secure publication and handling correspondence may provide the lawful basis. A legal obligation may apply to particular records or requests. We consider the purpose and the individual's interests rather than treating every use as automatically justified.

We retain correspondence only as reasonably needed for its purpose, follow-up, security or applicable legal obligations. The appropriate period depends on the enquiry; we do not promise immediate deletion of every technical or backup record. Information may be handled by hosting and email service providers, and disclosed where legally required. Providers may process information in other countries under their applicable safeguards. We do not sell personal data.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase information, restrict processing, object or receive portable data. Rights have conditions and exceptions. Email us with enough detail to identify the relevant information; proportionate identity checks may be necessary. UK visitors can consult the Information Commissioner's Office and raise a concern with the ICO.

External sites and changes

Retailers and other external sites control their own information practices after you follow a link. Review their policies before sharing information or ordering. Our Cookie Notice explains browser storage. We will update this page if the site's data practices change.
